Where to get "The Fireman"
The Fireman was a novella that was a precursor to Fahrenheit 451. The story could be found in a 1950's issue of Galaxy Magazine and from a science fiction anthology from the 1980's. Both of these sources were somewhat difficult to get hold of without liberating yourself of a small pile of cash. Copies of the issue of Galaxy Magazine go for up to $100. As I write this the science fiction anthology from the 80's is selling for around $30. People trying to get a copy of "The Fireman" are the main reason these prices are high.
Now there is a new great way to get the story. Bradbury has released a book called "A Pleasure to Burn" that contains the story. Here is a review of the book.
Keywords: Fahrenheit 451, Ray Bradbury, "The Fireman"
